Calling all Runners

We're excited to announce an officially sanctioned Run Club in the MoTab organization!  We want participants from the choir, orchestra, bells, chorale, staff, production folks, stage crew and your families!  We want runners of all abilities, including the "I-run-because-it-makes-me-happy" folks as well as the "I-only-run-if-zombies-are-chasing-me" people.

As choir tour is coming up, we will be preparing musically and spiritually, but we can also be be preparing physically.  You may be thinking that running is not your thing; no problem!  Walkers are welcome too.  We even have a running training plan if you want to work your way up from walking to running a 5K.  The training plan eases you in with a combo of run/walk.  As with any new exercise endeavor, you should consult with your doctor about what will work for you.

Our first event is to participate in a 5K fun run sponsored by the Utah State Office of Education.  This is a family friendly event that supports STEM education (science, tech, engineering, math).  This 5K (3.1 miles) is scheduled to be on Saturday, May 30 at the U of U.  Registration info is coming soon, but it will be $5 for adults and $2 for kids.

Keep an eye on the blog for info about more training ideas, how to stay motivated or other Run Club events that you might be interested in.  If you have questions, you can check with Stephanie Wood, Ryan Snarr, Camille Kingman or Valerie Morton (we're looking for a contact person in the orchestra and bells, let us know if you are interested).  Feel free to join this blog so we can support each other in Run Club.

Choose to Run!

  1. This is GREAT!! Looking forward to participating. As a heads up, there is a great run on Memorial Day May 25, called "Race For Grief" sponsored by the Blonde Runner, and part of the So. Davis Racing Series. It offers a 5K, 10K and 2 mile walk. I'm signed up for many races already this year, but will definitely plan to join you on Saturday May 30.
Are you planning on holding any training runs / group exercise events on Saturdays?
    Cheers - Holly

  2. I don't run, I shuffle. But if you need a contact person from the orchestra, I'm willing!

    1. Oh, sorry about the injury--nothing more frustrating than your body not doing what you want it to.
